The year 2019 dramatic was dramatic in the South African Geek Culture, so many 0s and 1s. Some things got us excited, who could forget the Hackathon on a Train? That had set global attention but sadly one of the things that did not happen.
We saw a number of Geeks investing in their skills and craft. We saw light moments at South Africa's midnight pitches at Hackathons. We saw Geeks landing international gigs. We saw Geeks closer to Government.
The Girls do the things to show that they are equally capable in the Tech space. HERE Technologies enabled more females to Map our society through the Girls Who Map programme.
New stars were born. Geekulcha saw its share of light moments - former VacWork scholars taking part at Hackathons.
Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Geeks flew the South African flag at the Red Bull Basement's University Challenge in Canada and made it Top 15. Some of the Geeks got to go Parliament and just be themselves.
It was indeed a busy year. Which Geek did the things for your? You get to nominate them for the Top 15 Young Geeks list for 2020.
Geekulcha will name Top 15 Young Geeks building solutions to Enterprise Mankind for the year on 01 June 2020 to mark Youth Month.
