#GKHack17 Aims To Build A Reading Culture

The Geekulcha Annual Hackathon takes place to gather tech developers, designers, innovators and entrepreneurs every year to enhance their skills capacity and build innovative solutions for Africa. This year, the hackathon will take place at the Liberty Group in Johannesburg from the 29th of September until the 1st of October.

Powered by Liberty and Standard Bank

Over 200 techies from various parts of South Africa and countries such as Mozambique and Botswana will gather to take part at one of the largest public hackathon events. Participants are urged to be data-centric and innovation-conscious towards building a Collaborative Digital Economy.

Admission to the hackathon this year is a book, preferably a tech book of which will be given to the scholars of the Geekulcha Vacation Work (gkVacWork) programme. With next editions in October and November, the programme equips high scholars with ICT and Business skills.

Tech Debates are part of the VacWork programme and the youngsters have to be more informed about the digital tools and how they affect our livelihood.

Geekulcha calls on all participants to bring a book along to the hackathon to help build a reading culture in the country.
